So, I was looking for a recipe in an old cookbook of my mother’s and came across something rather interesting-a single page torn from a cookbook, published in 1937. The page is from the “Game” section of the cookbook. It was certainly my grandmother’s as my grandfather hunted and there are several recipes for venison. The recipe that interests me is the one for ROAST SQUIRREL. What I find most interesting is the fact that THREE small squirrels are said to serve SIX portions. That is 1/2 of a SMALL squirrel per person. Yes, I realize that there is much to be said about the gluttony in modern day America but doesn’t this seem a bit…skimpy?
